Butler Family Donates to Commemoration
MAY 21, 2002

Gertrude Remmel Butler of Little Rock has donated $10,000 to the Louisiana Purchase Bicentennial Commemoration of Arkansas. Mrs. Butler, a well-known philanthropist, stated she was pleased to contribute to help with "meaningful and educational events during 2003".

Mrs. Butler's contribution will help defray costs associated with the year long bicentennial commemoration in 2003. Secretary of State Sharon Priest, chair of the Bicentennial Committee, said: "Mrs. Butler and her son Richard, deserve our thanks for their generous support of this significant event in Arkansas's history."
