Fort Smith Convention & Visitors Bureau Supports the Celebration
April 22, 2002

The Board of Directors and their Executive Director, Claude Legris, are rolling out the red carpet for the Louisiana Purchase Bicentennial Commemoration events by contributing $ 1,000.00. The Visitors Bureau supports activities that help bring travel and visitors to the Fort Smith, Arkansas area. They represent the community and want the best things to happen for the entire city.

The Fort Smith Louisiana Purchase Bicentennial Commemoration Committee will use these funds to offset the outdoor advertising campaign that will be used to promote the official kick-off in October. "These funds will help us secure a visual promotion", said Jody Weiche, chairperson. And added, "This kind of support helps to emphasize the importance of our history."

The Fort Smith Convention & Visitors Bureau is a non-profit group that assists with meeting preparations and help to explain the local historic, cultural, and recreational opportunities. They are located at 2 North B, Fort Smith, AR 72901 and can be reached at either 479-783-8888, toll free 1-800-637-1477 or visit them on the web at www.fortsmith.org.
