Fort Smith Bicentennial Plans Are Exciting
April 17, 2002

The City of Fort Smith, one of the community partners in the Louisiana Purchase Bicentennial in Arkansas, is planning several exciting events April 25 - May 1 2003 to commemorate the Purchase.

Events will take place at the Fort Smith National Historic Site, The Fort Smith Public Library, the Fort Smith Art Center, and the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. The programs will include an art exhibit, living history interpretations, performances and a book-signing by Clay Jenkinson, a living history interpreter who performs in the role of Thomas Jefferson, presentations by representatives of Native American tribes, and demonstrations by surveyors.
