Big Woods Birding Festival May 4;
Bring Your Own Binoculars!

The City of
Clarendon, one of the community partners in the
Louisiana Purchase Bicentennial in Arkansas, will hold
a festival for nature-lovers Sat., May 4.
The May 4 Big Woods Birding Festival will include programs
in the Clarendon Visitors Center, 204 Madison, from
10 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on wildlife and plants of the area.
Guided tours for birdwatching, butterfly-watching,
and botany study will go on throughout the day, with
the birdwatching tour beginning at 6:50 a.m. All tours
will begin and end at the Visitors Center.
The festival also will include cake walks, a pancake
breakfast, and other activities.
The city will hold a similar festival, focusing on
bird life in the area at the time of the Louisiana Purchase,
in May 2003.
