New Highway Signs Point to Louisiana
Purchase Historic State Park

April 2, 2002

The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department recently installed signs on Interstate 40 directing travelers to Louisiana Purchase Historic State Park.

The signs are near the eastbound and westbound exits to Brinkley Thursday.

"We thank everyone who was involved for their efforts in getting these signs," Laura Beth Bussell, a member of the Brinkley Chamber of Commerce, said according to the Brinkley Argus. Bussell also is a member of the Arkansas Louisiana Purchase Bicentennial Committee.

The Argus reported that Chamber Secretary Sandra Kemmer predicted the signs would immediately attract visitors to the park, part of the state's network of public parks.
